The fairer you are the higher an SPF you need. Ideally an SPF of at least 15 is needed to protect you from the sun's rays. If it is a deeper tan you are looking for, and you do not burn easily you might want to seek a sun tan lotion with at least an SPF of 8. An SPF 15 means you can stay in the sun 15 times longer without getting a sun burn, than you normally would unprotected. An SPF of 8 means, it will take 8 times as long as normal to get burnt.
